Winter-Wear Drive for Youth

Considering the whole child—thinking about every child as a developing human being with unknowable, infinite potential—impels us to think holistically about how we as a society, as a community, as a region, can support that child. - from the recent report of the Ferguson Commission In hopes of moving beyond charity into fellowship, we are responding to an opportunity brought to us by partners in the Ferguson Action Council, and Organization for Black Struggle, who are committed to remembering Vonderrit Myers and all our sons and daughters whose lives have been taken by police brutality, throughout the month of October. The "Vontober" warm-wear drive is an entry point for people who are eager to learn or lend a hand, but may not know how to do so, as the need for tangible items like hats and gloves, jackets and coats is mounting as families prepare to stretch sometimes-shrinking incomes for always-growing children.

1. Now thru October 29th: COLLECT brand new items for children size small up to 2X. with your family or community group, gather them for pick-up in your home or place of worship and contact us, or drop off at any of these locations: Mokabe's Coffeehouse near Tower Grove Park, Al-Mu’Minun Islamic Center, 1434 N Grand Blvd, or South City Church in Shaw.

2. October 30th-31st: DISTRIBUTE warm wear at Trunk-or-Treats- 10/30 in Tower Grove Park (South City), 10/31 in O'Fallon Park (North City)

In order for our theology to have any impact, our practices must reflect the coming restoration in which we place our hope. Faith for Justice is excited to participate in these events and all are welcome to join in however they are able!
